Be Your Best Self Today & Everyday - Psychic Consultants Online Blog

As we evaluate our lives, why do we place so much pressure on ourselves to be a certain way? Why not just be happy with the way you are? Maybe society’s unrealistic standards and judgement from others influences you to be a certain way. Instead of trying to change ourselves, focus on being content with how you already are. Be present and grateful for yourself today.

I recently read an article, Letting Go of Perfection & Learning to Live, where the author describes her personal journey of attempting to be perfect in all aspects of her life. She quickly discovered that this way of life could not be sustained and was unhealthy for her and her daughter. In her new outlook on life which involves letting go of the things you cannot control, she summarizes “If we are lucky, we die long into our life having amassed an army of imperfections. We need to embrace those imperfections because they are simply gifts disguised.”

Occasionally, we must overlook our flaws and weaknesses, and concentrate on what makes us who we are. After all, our individual identities are what make us each kind of fantastic in our own unique ways. We all face challenges throughout our lives which may force us to make decisions that others do not agree with. It’s your life and you are likely making a decision that best suits your individual needs at the time. We must let go of judgement and trying to please everybody else. No one is perfect!

You must be happy for yourself first before you can extend that same happiness to others. It may seem selfish, but your own joy must always be your first priority. It is essential for our wellbeing that we make a conscious effort to remove any expectations of how we should be. I’m not implying that happiness is something that we can attain all the time. It may be a daily struggle but after practicing this mindset, it can be accomplished more easily.

If you find yourself surrounded by doubt and self-criticism, do your best to remove that negative energy with positive thoughts. Be mindful and appreciative of everything that brings satisfaction to your life. Reflect on your accomplishments and achievements. Know that you wouldn’t be where you are today without strength and determination.
